To Become a Member
Members using the circle must be approved in person by the MaiRai Circle Coordinator by an arranged interview. This interview process is also known as "going for coffee".
This clothing sharing circle is aimed at those without much in the way of help from other sources. The "working poor", as the media have labeled the issue, have few resources available to them, and that is who I tend to aim this circle towards. Therefore, for this phase of the expansion I am interested in the following families:
Grandparents raising grandchildren or those doing kinship care, especially if on a fixed income (pension and/or permanent disability);
Students going to school without subsidies (paying through personal or student loans); and
Families (single or couples) who normally work basic jobs and/or go to school (see above).
Persons referred by agencies with whom MaiRai Circle has a verbal agreement with and persons referred by other members, who vouch for their character or need, will be considered on a case-by-case basis determined by an interview.
I will happily try to help emergency foster parents, short notice adoptive parents, and grandparents/family members/guardians who suddenly have custody on a case by case basis, or if met and approved as a member beforehand.
Extra Benefits to being a member:
If separated/divorced/two-household child, they can have clothes at both places. Less stress in their lives is a good thing; buying a set for each home and daycare as well can be very expensive.
If you donated all your munchkin stuff to us thinking that you were done with the having kids thing and you find out you weren't quite finished...no worries! As a member, you are covered yet again.
If you live in an apartment, you don't have to store anything!
Need a suit or a fancy dress for an event? No problem!
I have a soft spot for military, first response, and special needs families.
